
Joanne Steen is the widow of a naval aviator who was killed in
the line of duty. An engineer turned nationally certified counselor
with a focus on traumatic grief and crisis response, she is also
a strategic planner, grief group founder, crisis responder, instructor,
and speaker on military loss. Joanne was awarded the Meritorious
Civilian Service Medal during her employment with the
Department of the Navy.
Regina Asaro is a certified thanatologist (study of death, dying and
bereavement), a national and international crisis responder, and
a trainer on trauma, grief and stress management. She has authored
numerous columns and articles on traumatic loss. Regina has also
directed programs for victims of sexual assault and families of murder
victims. Her husband is a retired Coast Guard officer.
